In Memory of United Flights 175 and 93
At 8:01 a.m. on September 11, 2001, United Airlines Flight 93 departed Newark, New Jersey, for San Francisco. The Boeing 757 had 38 passengers and seven crew members aboard. Thirteen minutes later, United Flight 175 left Boston for Los Angeles with 56 passengers and nine crew members. At 9:06 a.m., UAL 175 crashed into the World Trade Center’s South Tower. At 10:00 a.m., UAL 93 crashed 80 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. There were no survivors from either flight. (This photo was taken at the memorial at St. Paul’s Chapel, just east of Ground Zero.)
