Lila

Lila
Lila Lomax epitomizes New York's new breed of hero. She formerly worked as a security guard in Brooklyn, but because of the September 11 attacks she decided to move to Manhattan and work at the Empire State Building, to show her solidarity with the city she loves. "It made me come to New York to appreciate what we do have," Lila says of the September attacks. She also echoes a sentiment expressed by many New Yorkers, that the disaster brought the city together. "It made me love New York more," she says. "Everyone loves each other now, black, white, Chinese -- everyone is like one, instead of a color. It healed a lot of people."
