In commemoration of National American Indian Heritage Month, Dennis Zotigh and Peter Cozzens will offer a look at Native American traditions and the climactic struggles between Native Americans and the white man in the American West. Dennis Zotigh will open the DVC with a story illustrative of the Native American tradition. Mr. Zotigh will discuss the significance of folklore, dance and other practices that constitute the vibrant and varied nature of traditional Native American cultures in addition to how modern history relates to modern powwows. Peter Cozzens will demystify the Indian Wars of the American West, correcting popular misconceptions as to the causes and conduct of these struggles.
