Welcome to our second "English Salon"!
I am Damon Anderson the new Regional English Language Officer (RELO) here at the U.S. Embassy. I have been in the field of English teaching for 33+ years. For the last 24 years I have been working with the Office of English Language Programs in the State Department traveling around the world working with teachers and future teachers in about 96 countries. I train trainers, train teachers, run workshops and seminars, present at conferences, lead discussions, and give lectures. I listen to the issues and concerns that English teachers and graduate students have and try to help them find solutions that are practical and useful to them in their work and study. This is the work that I hope to continue to do here in China through the new RELO Office that I am opening here.

我在美国大使馆是新任的地区英语官员。我在英语教育领域已工作33年。在最近的24年里，我一直在美国国务院英语项目办公室工作，与教师以及准教师一起参与了遍布全球96个国家的语言培训项目。我培训过培训教员、教师，组织短期研讨会、参与会议、发起讨论并作演讲。我关切英语教师和大学生们所涉及到的语言问题，并且努力帮助他们寻找可行、实用的方法以解决他们在工作学习中的问题。以上就是我希望通过这个新的地区英语办公室所要持续做的工作。

Guest Biography: I am originally from the state of Ohio, but studied and worked in the state of Arizona for many years. Before joining the Department of State as a Regional English Language Officer, I directed the intensive English program at Arizona State University and gave lectures in the English Department and the Intercultural Communications Department. I have an MA in Applied Linguistics and Teaching English as a Foreign Language.
