Effective leadership is essential in developing and sustaining a successful nongovernmental organization. Financial management, fundraising and strategic planning are all necessary components in the governance of NGOs. While this may seem obvious in theory, good NGO governance is much harder to realize in practice.

BoardSource, a Washington-based nonprofit organization, specializes in working with the boards of other nonprofit organizations, providing resources and training to assist leaders of both established and developing NGOs to advance their organizations’ missions and meet institutional needs. Join the BoardSource director of knowledge dissemination, Outi Flynn, for a webchat on what makes for effective NGO governance.
