The Frankfurt Book Fair, or Frankfurter Buchmesse in German, is the world's largest trade fair for books, held annually in mid-October in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. This year’s Book Fair will feature India as country guest of honor and highlight Indian literature from around the world from October 4-8.
Indu Sundaresan, author of the acclaimed The Twentieth Wife and newly released The Splendor of Silence, will be participating in a live Webchat during the Book Fair on October 5 at 12:00 CET (6:00am EDT).
Guest Biography: Indu Sundaresan was born in India and grew up on Air Force bases all over the country. Her father, a fighter pilot, was also a storyteller—managing to keep his audiences captive and rapt with his flair for drama and timing. He got this from his father, Indu's grandfather, whose visits were always eagerly awaited. Indu's love of stories comes from both of them, from hearing their stories based on imagination and rich Hindu mythology, and from her father's writings.
Indu was born and raised in India and came to the United States for graduate studies at the University of Delaware. She is the author of three novels: The Twentieth Wife, The Feast of Roses and her newest release The Splendor of Silence. She currently lives in the Seattle, Washington area and was awarded the Washington State Book Award for The Twentieth Wife in 2003.
