From December 9 to December 15, Ambassador Gaddi Vasquez, the U.S. representative to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Agencies in Rome, will travel to Bamako, Timbuktu and other locations in Mali. He will be accompanied by journalists from Morocco, Kuwait, Mauritania and Egypt. This is the first of a series of such trips to the field to highlight U.S. support for humanitarian programs.

Vasquez and members of his office will answer questions from the public throughout the time period as well as submit a daily journal, including photos, about their trip throughout Mali.

Guest Biography: Ambassador Gaddi H. Vasquez is the eighth U.S. representative to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Agencies in Rome. He was nominated by President Bush and unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate on June 29. Vasquez was sworn into office on September 7 by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. Prior to that, he was the Director of the United States Peace Corps.
