Making technology accessible to people living in some of the least developed parts of the globe is the subject of this USINFO webchat. Join Wayan Vota for a discussion of how Geekcorps, the nonprofit organization he directs, has taught computer skills to people across the globe and helped adapt technology to regions where electricity can be scarce.

Guest Biography:

Wayan Vota is a technology expert with a decade of experience in technology project design, implementation and management in developing as well as developed economies. He currently directs the Geekcorps Division of IESC, a not-for-profit economic development firm. Geekcorps focuses on delivering international information and communication development programs to government and private foundation clients.

Prior to IESC, Mr. Vota led technology projects with public, private, and governmental organizations such as PricewaterhouseCoopers, IBM, the National Council of Nonprofit Associations and the United States Peace Corps. He is a member of the Intel Corporation NGO Advisory Board and writes for several publications specializing on the role of technology in development.
